We are excited to partner with you in raising funds for our school! We love the Read-a-thon because it gets kids excited about reading, it's FUN, and it helps us to be able to offer all the extra literacy materials and activities and events that enrich the educational experience at Southwood.​

​Out of all money raised during the Readathon, 50% will be donated directly to Southwood teachers, library, and specialists to buy books and literacy materials for their classrooms! The rest of your contributions are used to fund teacher grants, school activities, and PTO events!

Individual, Class and School Rewards!

As the PTO’s major fundraiser, we appreciate each contribution every student bring in for Read-a-thon. We celebrate with individual and class rewards! Students who reach $50 in donations will be given a cute mini food Squishmallow! For bringing in $250 or more, each student will earn a Pizza Party with Mr Means! Each teacher decides a class reward for celebrating when their class fundraising goal is met. Examples of class rewards may be an extra recess, pajama day, an in-class movie, etc. In addition, we have a school wide goal of $15,000. When we reach this goal, each Southwood student will have a chance to throw a water balloon at Mr Means! That’s over 350 water balloons!
